235 CID "Thriftmaster" Inline 6 - 1BBL - 3 Speed Man. - 12 Volt - Frame Off Rest

This 1951 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup is an absolutely gorgeous 5 window pickup truck that benefits from a frame-off restoration. Chevrolet has had a long history producing pickup trucks, dating back to 1918 when the General Motors' marque first started producing its commercial line of trucks. While civilian production of Chevy trucks was halted for several years during World War II, Chevrolet resumed its truck production for the 1946 model year. The following year in 1947, Chevrolet led American truck manufacturers in bringing newly redesigned truck models to market, known as the "Advanced-Design" trucks. The new-look '47 Chevy trucks were a hit with consumers and the GM marque sold over a quarter million new pickups. In the years that followed, the public continued purchasing new Chevy trucks in droves. For the rest of the 40s and into the early 50s, Chevrolet retained the same basic design elements of the "Advance Design" trucks only mildly refining the design in the years that followed. For the 1951 Chevy light-duty trucks, these updates included the addition of vent windows along with the removal of the left side cowl ventilator that made for a more streamlined look. This particular '51 Chevrolet 3100 comes to us after it underwent an extensive frame-off restoration that shows very well. Powering this '51 Chevy 1/2 ton is a 235 cubic inch "Thriftmaster" inline 6 cylinder engine fed by a single barrel carburetor. The NOM 235 Thriftmaster 6 cylinder is backed by a 3 speed manual transmission that is shifted via a column-mounted "three-on-the-tree" shifter. Exhaust exits the NOM 235 straight 6 via a single exhaust port that generates a nice throaty sound out the rear tailpipe. The electrical system on this '51 Chevrolet Pickup has been upgraded from 6 volt to 12 volt which provides for more reliable startups and more robust electrical performance. This 1951 Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Pickup is nicely appointed as well. The front chrome bumpers and bumper guards, along with an optional rear chrome bumper, elevate the exterior appearance of this 50s truck. The addition of a chrome grille further adds to the glitzy exterior look this Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Pickup. Dual chrome outside mirrors are another wonderful addition to any 50s pickup truck since it makes maneuvering in and out of tight spaces at the local ice cream shop or car show a total breeze. The steel pickup box and wooden bed are in fantastic condition, showing minimal signs of wear or use. Riding on a set of 6.50-16 blackwall bias-ply tires mounted on steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and beauty rings, this '51 Chevy 3100 has a beautiful stance while parked or while cruising down the road. The all steel body on this 5-window Chevy pickup has been refinished in beautiful Seacrest Green paint that completes the exterior appearance of the truck. The interior of this 1951 Chevrolet 3100 5 Window Pickup is absolutely gorgeous! The bench seat has been reupholstered in beautiful brown vinyl, reminiscent to how it likely came back in 1951. The matching vinyl door panels and armrests, black rubber floor mat, painted dash, and 3 spoke steering wheel all appear to be in terrific condition and retain a nice stock appearance. Instrumentation includes an 80 MPH speedometer, battery gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and gasoline gauge. The dash is completed with a push-button AM radio along with an ashtray and locking glovebox. Whether you're adding to an existing collection or you're buying your very first classic pickup truck, this 1951 Chevrolet 3100 5 Window Pickup Truck would make an excellent addition.
